OUR STAFF

Our Team Members

Meet the dedicated professionals at Passage of Hope, who are committed to guiding you on your mental health journey. Our team brings a diverse range of expertise and a shared passion for providing compassionate and personalized care to every individual we serve.

Greetings!  My name is Laura Coffey.  I am the owner of Passage of Hope and am so happy that you have stopped here to learn about our staff.

With over 3 decades of experience as a therapist and serving in a variety of mental health care venues, I am dedicated to guiding individuals through the complexities of trauma, providing a safe space for healing and personal growth. My approach is rooted in the belief that every person’s journey is unique, and I strive to meet clients where they are, addressing both immediate challenges in daily life and deep-seated trauma impacting their wellbeing.

My passion lies in helping individuals discover resilience within themselves, empowering them to navigate difficult emotions and build healthier relationships. Whether working with voluntary clients seeking personal transformation or supporting those navigating involuntary situations, I am committed to fostering hope and facilitating a holistic healing process that encompasses mind, body, and spirit.

Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, I integrate various therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment plans to each individual’s needs.  EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is used frequently in my therapy delivery because of its effectiveness and positive outcomes. This includes exploring the impact of past experiences on present behaviors, identifying coping mechanisms, and fostering self-awareness to facilitate lasting change.

When I am not working, I love spending time outdoors – connecting with God and nature.  Spending time with family and serving others in need are things that make my heart happy!

My goal is to empower clients to not only manage symptoms but to actively create a life filled with meaning and purpose. If you are ready to embark on a journey towards healing and personal growth, I am here to walk alongside you, supporting you every step of the way.  Please reach out and let me help you start your healing journey!

I’m all about getting to the root of the problem. We can pull weeds from our garden all day, but if we are only pulling the leaves seen on the surface, the weeds will continue to grow. We must dig deep through the dirt and pull up our weeds by their roots, so our garden can flourish.

What do your “weeds” look like? Worry, overwhelming stress, angry outburst? Lack of motivation, hopelessness, low-self esteem? Isolation, sadness, sleep problems, appetite changes? Substance use, addiction, self-harm? People pleasing, burn-out, unhealthy relationships? Instead of trying to just manage these symptoms, let me help you get to the root and live in freedom.

My passion is to help individuals recognize their maladaptive behaviors and patterns, and identify and heal the emotional wounds driving them. Unattended emotional wounds impact our relationships and how we see ourselves, creating major barriers to living out our purposeful life. In order to heal, we must feel. Through patience, attainment, and validation, I will hold the space needed to sit with your pain so you can be relieved of it. It is important that you feel seen, heard, and understood. You are not alone and you weren’t meant to carry these burdens on your own. I will meet you where you are, and approach with intentionality, truth and love.

I work primarily with youth, young adult women, and families, specializing in trauma and attachment. I utilize a holistic approach, including trauma responsive care, brain-based therapy, and God’s truth. I am a certified Brainspotting therapist, passionate about helping you reprocess and heal the root of your distress, so you can discover your identity, passion, and purpose.

In my free time, I can be found hiking or kayaking, snapping pictures of sunsets and my cat, spending time with loved ones, or working out at the gym. I also find fulfillment in worshiping at church, reading, cheering on my Bengals, and watching Shark Tank thinking of things I can invent.

I see people for who they are and who they could become. My focus is less on the therapeutic process and more on the transformation that comes from it. Clients don’t come to me because they just want to talk about their problems—they come because they want change. They want to break free from what’s holding them back and become a better version of themselves.

That’s where I come in. I believe in the power of potential and am here to help you tap into yours. Whether overcoming deep-seated challenges or finding new ways to thrive, the goal is always the same: real, lasting change.  I’m passionate about working with those who’ve often been overlooked or underserved.

I don’t shy away from the tough cases—in fact, they’re the ones I’m most drawn to. If you’re feeling stuck, reluctant, or even resistant, that’s exactly where we start. My approach is all about connection- especially with those who might not be eager to engage—teens, men, anyone who feels like therapy isn’t for them—and helping them move forward through my direct, creative approach focused on results.

The benefits of therapy aren’t just about feeling better—they’re about living better. It’s about breaking free from patterns that aren’t serving you, gaining clarity, and stepping into a life that aligns more with your best self. My role is to guide you there, to challenge you when needed, and to support you every step of the way. I don’t just work hard- I expect my clients to do the same. Therapy isn’t about staying stuck; it’s about moving forward, and my goal is to help people get to a place where they no longer need therapy. I’m authentic in my approach- no professional façade here- because I believe in being real with my clients. I’m here to help them tap into their strength and potential.

Outside of work, I’m a passionate learner and a creator at heart. I’m always looking for new ways to grow and express myself, whether reading, cooking, sewing, or drawing. I’ve also found a love for the gym, and I value the balance that comes with taking time to relax and recharge. Life is about more than just work, and I make sure to embrace all aspects of it.
